Carbon Analysis

A carbon analyzer is used to measure both organic and inorganic forms of carbon.

Seabird Profiler

A seabird profiler is used to make in situ measurements of several water quality parameters including temperature, specific conductivity, fluorescence, and transmissometry, as well as directly measuring the underwater light field.

Secchi Disc

A Secchi disc, a small black and white quadrant disc, is used to determine water clarity or transparency.

Tributary Sampling

Samples are collected from the streams and rivers that flow in and out of the lakes and reservoirs for later laboratory analysis.

Sample Processing

Samples are processed in the laboratory to prepare them for analysis.

Continuous Sampling

Some studies require frequent sample collection ranging from hourly to daily. This is accomplished using automatic samplers such as ISCO samplers. Additionally, HydroLab DataSondes, current meters, and thermistors are deployed to monitor in situ parameters.

Water Column Sampling

Water samples are collected at a number of depths between the surface and bottom of lakes and reservoirs and returned to the laboratory for analysis.
